About Us- The Back Story

 

 

After traveling to hundreds of farms to hand-slaughter chickens for MN poultry producers (over 9 years) and hearing countless frustrations from these same producers who also raised goats & sheep but were unable to access processing, we finally listened.

A Feasibility Study, Market Economic Analysis, countless producer surveys, and thousands of hours of research later; Happy Halal Meats was born! A sister company to Clean Chickens and Co. LLC; Happy Halal Meats was designed to resolve a regional issue for producers who were unable to get their animals processed, or promoting their products to get into the market, and into the hands of ethnic consumers who were demanding halal products but couldn't find it fresh. 

We found ourselves supported by all levels of government (and foundations) who were also trying to resolve the issue of hungry Muslim communities wanting religiously hand-slaughtered fresh meats for central MN- city, county, regional, state and federal.  They all wanted to help! 

So three years of planning, designing, fundraising, and resource development has finally come to fruition. Happy Halal Meats is special, recognized as having high quality products which leaves a big impression despite it's little footprint ~ kinda' like it's sister company Clean Chickens and Co.! Only, we have a Slaughterman, everything harvested is halal, and we work with the local Mosque for religious exemptions and our USDA inspectors. 

We are a woman-owned business and know what our own frustrations are when it comes to feeding our own families and just decided we wanted better options, and to spend more time with our families

We haven't changed who we are, we are still us doing what we always did. We are a small family company trying to make a difference for our small, rural communities and feeding our neighbors Clean, Fresh, and Local meats. It's not about feeding the world, it's about feeding our families and neighbors.

Lastly, this journey has given us a unique perspective, people are people and they are hungry for change. Whether it is ethnic consumers seeking hand-slaughtered meat to remind them of home or busy moms who care about where their food is sourced from to give their families the best.
